Every year, since 2002, the European Mobility Week is organised from 16 to 22 September and is dedicated to sustainable mobility. The campaign is accompanied by a one-day event called “In town, without my car”.
An updated map of bike lanes which will be built by 2020 was presented during European Mobility Week in Lviv.
According to Oleh Shmid, the advisor to the mayor for cycling infrastructure, the construction is now being actively carried out in B. Khmelnytskoho st., T. Shevchenka st., and V. Chornovola ave.
The bike lanes on Stusa st., which will be constructed within the “Tram to Sykhiv” project, are already on the map. The overall length of cycle routes is now 50 km. It is expected that by the end of this year it will reach 60-70 km.
Green – planned bike lanes/cycle tracks
Dark blue – constructed/under construction
Light blue – streets conducive to cycling. On such streets no dedicated bike lanes are foreseen, and all types of traffic will move on the road with low speed.
We would like to mention that the dark blue color is also used to mark bike lanes that will be constructed by the end of 2015.
