Every year, since 2002, the European Mobility Week is organised from 16 to 22 September and is dedicated to sustainable mobility. The campaign is accompanied by a one-day event called “In town, without my car”.
At the beginning of October Nextbike Ukraine is going to launch the implementation of the pilot project “Lviv Public Bike Sharing” and install the first 5 stations. The planned works include installation and adjustment of rental terminals and bicycles, connecting the system to payment gateways, testing different modes, setting up a call center, launching the system in trial mode, and other associated works.
When the first stage of Lviv public bike sharing system development is implemented, the next stage of the project will start in 2016, within which 22 new stations will be opened and the system will start operating in full mode. This is planned for the start of the next cycling season, from 1 to 30 March 2016 depending on the weather conditions.
Nextbike Ukraine LLC intends to install similar systems in other Ukrainian cities once the local authorities of Kharkiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Vinnytsia pass the resolution to implement public bike sharing systems. We also hope that in the near future Kyiv Investment Agency will prepare a full set of tender documents for the implementation of a bike sharing system in Ukraine’s capital, which Vitalii Klychko, the mayor of Kyiv has mentioned recently.
